about

This song was the most difficult I ever had to write, as it deals with the end of my marriage, some four years ago. Although I tried, words cannot adequately describe what it felt like to pack and drive away from those you love and the only life you knew. However, this is also about healing and renewal, so if you're going through a breakup or divorce, I hope you can take some comfort in it. Take care, and thanks so much for listening...

Tiny footfalls, wailing voices
Broken hearts and desperate choices
Nothing more to say, the time has come to end it.

Car is packed with all you’re taking
Kiss the kids to ease their breaking
As they cry out in vain that somehow you can mend it.

CHORUS 1
Start the car, the tank is full
Tear your heart out with one pull
As you struggle just to mouth the word goodbye
Goodbye…

Push the pedal, seize your exit
No more thoughts on how to fix it
All that’s left is miles of road and endless sky.

Hotel beds and pull-out sofas
Mickey D’s and endless mochas
Lean on friends like you’ve never, never leaned on them before.

CHORUS 2
Muted smiles and bits of gladness
Find their way through all the sadness
You’re on the path to live and laugh and love once more
Once more…

You’re on the path to live
You’re on the path to laugh
You’re on the path to love
To love once more...

about

Jeff McCaskill Vancouver, British Columbia

I was introduced to a wide variety of music as a child. It informed my soul, and inspired me to take up the guitar when I was eight. My life, loves, and livelihood have taken me around the globe and back again, but the pristine waters and rugged mountains of the Pacific Northwest kept calling my name until i could resist no longer. Here, with my lovely Tamara, I have truly found my home. ... more
